Through her work, she strives to engage community leaders and decision-makers on immigration, civil rights, voter engagement and legislative advocacy. During her time in Fresno, she has been honored as a recipient of the Way to Peace Award, appointed to serve on the ACLU Northern California Union Board and served as a guest speaker at local faith institutions, schools and universities to share her reflections as a Muslim woman and about Islam’s message of justice and equity.

Organizing the Muslim community on issues related to immigration, civil rights, civic engagement and legislative advocacy
Previously, I worked as a community organizer with Faith in the Valley, the Central Valley’s largest interfaith organization, focused on working towards racial, economic and environmental justice. Through this role, I actively worked with the interfaith Clergy Caucus which included interfaith leaders leading with moral voice and action on social justice issues locally.
