About the Moderator
Since 1988, my life’s work has been leading formation for ministry in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno. After 32 years with the Diocese, I retired in August, 2020 as Director of Social Justice Ministry, which included work on human rights, environmental justice, restorative justice, and racial justice. Much of my justice work for the Diocese involved close connections with persons of many other faiths, and no faith, as we collaborated on important and timely issues for the community. Addressing racial reckoning is one urgent concern many of us share, and that is why this year’s ISW Webinar Series on “Bearing Witness from Fresno’s Mason-Dixon Line” is so appealing to me. Pope Francis’ most recent encyclical “Fratelli Tutti” (“On Fraternity and Social Friendship”) and his just published book, Let Us Dream: The Path to a Better Future, both call for the type of work which ISW 2021 will be centered on.
